By his energetic and stimulating play on fiddle and hardangerfiddle, folk musician Sturla Eide plants his musical articulacy deeply into the Norwegian tradition. He has inspired many musicians to listen to folk music with a new set of ears. He has a gift to focus on and bring to life those specific elements that are distinctive for the local melodies from the different areas of Norway. This has contributed in the creation of a great depth of field in Flukt’s repertoire.

Øivind Farmen is an international heavyweight within the modern and classical accordion music. He shows an enormous gift to carry grace and dynamics into the music. He effortlessly combines the most sensitive and gentlest of piccolo-tones with violent and satiated acoustic quilts of sound. All of this is carried out by a technical brilliance of unsurpassed proportions. His control over a wide musical range provides a fascinating experience to all listeners.

Håvard Sterten lays the foundations of the music with a fantastic presence and creative use of percussion. With his percussion the music obtains a robust gravity and colorful contrasts in melody and dynamics. With his blues-roots he seems to be born into the task of creating “grooves” and rhythms that truly invite feet to stomp and the heart to beat just a little faster.

Together they bring out a muscial experience that seems gravitate an audience towards them from all age-groups and walks of life. Listeners and practicing musicians alike have been highly impressed over Flukt’s distinctive and inspiring concerts. From their earliest beginnings in 1998 and troughout changes in their formation, Flukt has harvested standing applause at hundreds of concerts within and outside of Norway. Their CD’s have been greatly received by critics. Furthermore have they performed several times on Norwegian TV and radio and they have been part of festivals of international proportions like the Førde Internasjonale Folkemusikkfestival, Falun Folkmusikfestival (Sweden), Festiwal Folkowy (Poland) and the Nordic Roots festival.
